Muztagh Ata was climbed in 1956 by the Sino-Russian expedition. The first ski ascent was made to this mountain in 1980 by an American expedition. Muztagh Ata lies in the Sinkiang Province of China. Muztag-Ata is an isolated massif rising from the western end of the Takla Makan Desert in the Xinjiang Province of China. It lays in the hub of the great mountain ranges of Asia, with the Karakorum to the south, the Pamir to the west, and the Kun Lun and Tien-Shan to the north.
At 7546 m. Muztag-Ata is perhaps the highest skiable mountain in the worldly person having Ski experience can make a lifetime ascent to this beautiful mountain. A previous mountain experience is recommended ( use of rope, ice axe, etc ). Ski pair, with regular climbing equipment, are required to climb this mountain.
