Kalash Chitral Tour Pakistan 2026 - 2027

Saltoro Summits Pakistan

Discover the Enigmatic Kalash Culture – A Blend of Mystery & Tradition
The Kalash people of Kalash Valley, situated in the Chitral district of Pakistan, have long fascinated historians, anthropologists, and travelers with their unique culture, appearance, and traditions. While theories suggest links to Alexander the Great’s deserters, like General Shalakshah, concrete evidence remains elusive. According to Professor Paolo Graziosi, their distinct features—light skin, regular facial structures, and often light eyes—hint at Europoid Mediterranean or Alpine ancestry traits.

Location Insights
Kalash Valley is nestled in the Hindu Kush mountain range, located 35 km from Chitral City.
It consists of three primary sub-valleys:
Birir (southernmost tip, 34 km away)
Bumborait (the major valley, 35 km away)
Rambour (32 km away)
The region is 1800-3800 meters above sea level, experiencing mild tourist-friendly summers but harsh, snowy winters.
