Muztagh Ata 7546 M 2025 - 2026 - Saltoro Summits Pakistan

Muztagh Ata, located in China’s Xinjiang Province, is a prominent peak that rises to 7,546 meters above sea level. This impressive massif, first successfully climbed by a Sino-Russian expedition in 1956, gained additional recognition in 1980 when an American team completed the first ski ascent of the mountain. Positioned on the western edge of the Taklamakan Desert, Muztagh Ata holds a strategic location, surrounded by some of Asia’s major mountain ranges, including the Pamir to the west, the Karakoram to the south, and the Kun Lun and Tien-Shan ranges to the north.

Renowned as one of the tallest skiable mountains in the world, Muztagh Ata offers an extraordinary challenge for experienced skiers and adventure enthusiasts. Climbers need to have prior mountaineering skills and be adept at using ice axes and ropes. Expeditions to the mountain often involve skis and specialized climbing equipment, with multiple routes available for the ascent. Many such expeditions are organized from Pakistan, making it a key point of access for this remarkable adventure.
