Thale La Trek
Hidden between the Shigar and Indus valleys, the Thale La Trek is a short but rewarding journey through Baltistan’s most colorful landscapes. The route leads to Thale La Pass (4,600 m / 15,092 ft), a high saddle that opens to sweeping views of the Karakoram, including glimpses of K2, Masherbrum, and the icy giants above the Hushe and Shigar valleys.
This trek is ideal for travelers who want to experience the charm of Balti villages, gentle alpine meadows, and a touch of altitude without the demands of a long expedition. During the walk you’ll meet friendly shepherds, camp beside clear streams, and cross rolling pastures alive with wildflowers in summer.
This route begins from the historic town of Skardu and leads through fruit orchards, summer pastures, and wild glacial landscapes to the base of Spantik. Compared with many Karakoram expeditions, this trek is relatively moderate, making it an excellent choice for hikers seeking a high-altitude adventure without extreme technical challenges.

- Day 1: Arrival at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Evening briefing at Alpine Club of Pakistan. Overnight in hotel.
- Day 2: Drive from Islamabad to Chilas via Babusar Top & Kaghan Valley. Overnight in Chilas.
- Day 3: Continue drive to Skardu (22–24 hours in total from Islamabad). Overnight in hotel.
- Day 4: Skardu – Final trek arrangements. Overnight in hotel.
- Day 5: Drive to Khaplu (2,555m). Sightseeing and exploration. Overnight in hotel/camp.
- Day 6: Jeep drive to Bukma, trek to Olma (last village), continue to Dubla Khan. Overnight in tents.
- Day 7: Trek across Thalle La Pass (4,572m) to Deserpa with panoramic views of Masherbrum Range & Mango Gusor (6,288m). Overnight in tents.
- Day 8: Free day in Deserpa – exploration of summer pastures. Overnight in tents.
- Day 9: Jeep drive to Shigar with sightseeing. Continue to Skardu. Overnight in hotel.
- Day 10: Drive to Chilas. Overnight in hotel.
- Day 11: Drive to Islamabad. Overnight in hotel.
- Day 12: Transfer to Islamabad Airport for departure. End of services.
