K2 Base Camp Trek

The K2 Base Camp trek with Saltoro Summits is an 18 to 21 day high altitude adventure into the heart of Pakistan’s magnificent Karakoram Range. Your adventure begins in Islamabad where you spend a night for rest and preparation before taking a scenic flight to Skardu, the gateway to the Karakoram. After a day for briefing and final arrangements, Saltoro Summits arranges a jeep ride along rugged mountain roads to Askole, the last inhabited village on the route at about 2600 meters.
From Askole the trail follows the Braldu River through dramatic mountain landscapes. The first stage reaches Jhola at 3185 meters, then continues to Paiyu, a beautiful campsite beneath Paiyu Peak. A rest day here allows for acclimatization before the climb continues to Urdukas, where the great peaks of the Karakoram first come fully into view. The route then crosses the vast Baltoro Glacier to Goro II.
Next comes Concordia at 4690 meters, the confluence of the Baltoro and Godwin Austen glaciers, often called the Throne Room of the Mountain Gods. Surrounded by giants such as Broad Peak, Gasherbrum IV and the mighty K2 itself, Concordia is one of the most spectacular mountain viewpoints in the world. From here the trek continues to K2 Base Camp at 5150 meters, the historic staging ground for climbers attempting the summit.
After spending a night at base camp you retrace the route back through Concordia, Goro II, Khuburtze and Mundung before reaching Askole. A jeep ride then returns the group to Skardu, where Saltoro Summits keeps an extra day for possible weather delays before arranging your flight back to Islamabad.
